Consolidation therapy is a phase of cancer drug treatment given after induction therapy has reduced the tumor burden, aimed at eliminating any malignant cells still remaining. It follows induction therapy and precedes maintenance therapy in the standard sequence of cancer treatment, and its purpose is to consolidate the gains the induction phase achieved rather than to produce the initial remission.
