Vector control is any method used to limit or eradicate the mammals, birds, insects, or other arthropods that transmit disease pathogens. Mosquito control, approached through a range of strategies, is by far the most common form of vector control practiced. Several of the diseases classified as neglected tropical diseases are spread by such vectors, which is part of why vector control remains a core tool of disease prevention.
