Chikungunya vaccines are vaccines intended to provide acquired immunity against the chikungunya virus. As of 2025, two vaccines have been licensed in some countries: Ixchiq, a live attenuated vaccine from Valneva, and Vimkunya, made by Bavarian Nordic using virus-like particle technology. The most commonly reported side effects of Ixchiq include tenderness at the injection site, headache, fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain, fever and nausea, though its license has been suspended or restricted in some countries because of the risk of severe side effects, particularly among older people.
