Hantavirus vaccine, sold under the brand name Hantavax, is a vaccine that protects against hantavirus hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome or hantavirus pulmonary syndrome in humans. The vaccine is considered important because acute hantavirus infections cause significant illness and death worldwide; an estimated 1.5 million cases and 46,000 deaths occurred in China between 1950 and 2007, with about 32,000 cases in Finland between 2005 and 2010 and about 90,000 cases in Russia between 1996 and 2006.
