Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is a professional medical association headquartered in London that specializes in obstetrics and gynaecology, covering pregnancy, childbirth, and women's reproductive health, with more than sixteen thousand members in over a hundred countries, nearly half of them outside the British Isles. It was founded in September 1929 by Professor William Blair-Bell and Sir William Fletcher Shaw and received its royal charter in 1947, and its stated purpose is the encouragement of the study and the advancement of the science and practice of obstetrics and gynaecology, pursued by setting clinical standards intended to improve women's health globally. The college develops postgraduate training frameworks, conducts professional examinations, publishes the journal BJOG, and provides clinical guidance to healthcare professionals worldwide.
