The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is a specialized health agency of the African Union, established in 2017 to strengthen public health surveillance, outbreak response and disease prevention capacity across African Union member states. Headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, it coordinates continent-wide responses to epidemics, including major roles during the COVID-19 pandemic and mpox outbreaks.
