Fertility Preservation

Fertility preservation is the set of medical efforts made to help a patient, most often someone being treated for cancer, retain the ability to have biological children after treatment. The field grew as cancer survival rates rose and clinicians recognized that treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation could permanently damage a patient's fertility, and its methods are now also applied for other health conditions that threaten reproductive capacity. Fertility preservation aims to give patients options for having children of their own even after undergoing medical treatment that would otherwise leave them unable to do so.
