Sarcoidosis

Sarcoidosis is a disease characterized by the growth of small clusters of inflammatory cells, called granulomas, in various organs of the body, most often the lungs and lymph nodes. Its symptoms vary widely depending on which organs are affected and can include persistent cough, fatigue, and skin lesions. Its underlying cause is not known, though it is thought to involve an abnormal immune response, possibly triggered by an environmental exposure in a genetically susceptible person.
