A Greco-Arabic-Persian medical system rooted in the humoral theory of Hippocrates and Galen, systematized and greatly expanded during the Islamic Golden Age by physicians including al-Tabari, al-Razi and Ibn Sina, whose Canon of Medicine, completed in 1025 CE, became its most authoritative codification. The system entered South Asia with the Delhi Sultanate and flourished under Mughal patronage, and remains formally practiced and regulated in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh today.
