Malladihalli Raghavendra (1890-1996), popularly known by the nickname Tiruka, was an Indian Hindu guru and holistic health practitioner born in Barkur, Karnataka. Working from the village of Malladihalli near Holalkere in Chitradurga district, he taught yoga and practiced Ayurvedic medicine, treating patients with natural remedies and yogic methods rather than surgery; he is credited with having treated more than 3 million people over his long life. Beyond his medical practice, he founded the Anatha Sevashrama Trust and built a complex of nonprofit educational institutions and wellness facilities at Malladihalli. A prolific author in Kannada, he wrote extensively on yoga postures and Ayurvedic remedies as well as novels and plays. He lived to the age of 106, dying in Bangalore in 1996.
