Friedrich Eduard Bilz

Friedrich Eduard Bilz was a German naturopath, born in Arnsdorf in the Kingdom of Saxony, who became one of the most widely read popularizers of natural healing in late nineteenth century Europe. His 1888 book on natural healing methods reached a mass readership and helped establish him as a leading naturopathic authority, and he used the proceeds to build a large health sanitarium at Radebeul, where he also installed one of the earliest wave pools. His interest in health and natural remedies extended into commercial invention: the mineral water beverage he developed was later marketed worldwide as Sinalco. He lived from 12 June 1842 until 30 January 1922.
