John Harvey Kellogg

John Harvey Kellogg was an American businessman, inventor, physician, and advocate of the health reforms of the Battle Creek Progressive Friends movement and of eugenics policies. He directed the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan, which combined aspects of a European spa, a hydrotherapy institution, a hospital, and a high-class hotel. The sanitarium promoted vegetarianism, nutrition, exercise, sun-bathing and hydrotherapy, and Kellogg developed nut and vegetable products including a flaked-wheat cereal and cornflakes.
