Prentis Hemphill is an American writer, therapist and somatic facilitator who founded the Embodiment Institute, a training organization that teaches body-based approaches to healing and social change. Their clinical and teaching work applies somatic and embodiment-based methods within social justice, feminist and LGBTQIA community organizing, treating the body as a site where trauma and resilience are held and can be worked with directly. Hemphill previously served as Healing Justice Director for the Black Lives Matter Global Network, shaping how that organization supported activists' physical and emotional wellbeing, and hosts the podcast Finding Our Way. Their 2024 book, What It Takes to Heal, sets out this somatic approach to individual and collective healing for a general readership.
