Wound bed preparation is a systematic approach to wound management that identifies and removes the barriers preventing a wound from healing. Originally developed in plastic surgery, it includes wound assessment, debridement of dead or damaged tissue, restoring moisture balance, controlling bacterial balance, and cleaning the wound.
