FAQs

At what age is orchiopexy usually done for an undescended testicle?

The NHS says surgery for undescended testicles will usually be done when a child is around 1 year old.

The NHS says undescended testicles often move into their usual place in the scrotum in the first 12 weeks after a child is born. It says that if only one testicle is affected and it has not moved within 4 to 5 months, the child will usually be referred to a specialist. A child may need surgery to move the testicles to the correct place (orchidopexy), which the NHS says will usually be done when the child is around 1 year old.
