How does the digestive system keep working after the stomach is removed?
Cleveland Clinic says the surgeon attaches the small intestine to what remains of the stomach or to the esophagus.
Cleveland Clinic states that during a gastrectomy the surgeon reconstructs the digestive system so that it still works.
