The Burdizzo is the name of a bloodless castration device, an emasculatome, built around a large clamp that crushes the spermatic cords running to an animal testicles rather than cutting them. By breaking the blood vessels that supply the testicles, the clamp cuts off their blood flow, and the tissue then undergoes necrosis and gradually shrinks and deteriorates without an open wound. The operator applies the clamp to each spermatic cord in turn, spacing the crush points carefully so that the scrotum itself keeps a working blood supply.
