Dehorning is the removal of the horns of livestock, most commonly cattle, sheep and goats, carried out for economic and safety reasons such as reducing injury to other animals and to handlers. It is distinct from breeding for hornlessness and is typically performed on young animals, before the horn bud has fully attached to the skull.
