Tightrope CCL

Tightrope CCL is a minimally invasive veterinary orthopedic technique for extracapsular stabilization of a dog's stifle joint when the cranial cruciate ligament, the canine equivalent of the human anterior cruciate ligament, is deficient. It uses a strong suture material called FiberTape placed through small, isometrically positioned bone tunnels to achieve bone to bone fixation, avoiding the bone cutting required by alternative procedures such as tibial plateau leveling osteotomy or tibial tuberosity advancement. It is used to treat cranial cruciate ligament deficiency, described as a common and costly problem in dogs and sometimes cats, counteracting cranial tibial thrust, drawer movement and internal rotation of the joint while preserving its range of motion, giving veterinarians an alternative to bone cutting surgery for stabilizing the knee.
