Diseases of the Skin and Subcutaneous Tissue

Urticaria, also known as hives, is a kind of skin rash with red or flesh-colored, raised, itchy bumps that may burn or sting. The patches of rash can appear on different parts of the body, lasting anywhere from minutes to days, and typically do not leave any long-lasting change to the skin. Fewer than five percent of cases last more than six weeks, and the condition frequently recurs.
