Huntington's Disease

Huntington's disease is an inherited neurodegenerative disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It is characterized by uncontrolled movements, emotional and behavioral changes, and a decline in cognitive ability that worsen over the course of the disease. It is caused by a mutation in a single gene and is passed from parent to child in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning a child of an affected parent has an even chance of inheriting the mutation.
