Hydronephrosis is a condition in which the kidney becomes enlarged due to a complete or partial obstruction in the outflow of urine, resulting in dilation of the parts of the kidney that collect urine. It can affect one or both kidneys, can develop suddenly or gradually, and affects individuals of all ages, including fetuses during pregnancy.
