Hypersexuality

Hypersexuality is a proposed medical condition marked by unwanted or excessive sexual arousal, driving affected individuals to engage in or think about sexual activity to a degree that causes distress or impairment. It falls within psychiatry and has been diagnosed under various labels, including excessive sexual drive under ICD-10 code F52.7 and, more recently, compulsive sexual behavior disorder under ICD-11. The concept traces to the late nineteenth century, notably Richard von Krafft-Ebing's 1886 work Psychopathia Sexualis.
