Jeavons syndrome is a type of epilepsy and one of the most distinctive reflex syndromes among the idiopathic generalized epilepsies, defined by the triad of eyelid myoclonia with or without absence seizures, seizures triggered by closing the eyes, and photosensitivity, often together with characteristic EEG paroxysms. Eyelid myoclonia, the seizure type that defines the syndrome, involves myoclonic jerks of the eyelids with or without a brief absence seizure, and is mainly triggered by eye closure and light.
