Marburg Virus Disease

Infectious and Parasitic Diseases

Marburg virus disease, formerly called Marburg hemorrhagic fever, is a viral hemorrhagic fever affecting humans and non-human primates, caused by either the Marburg virus or the related Ravn virus. Its symptoms closely resemble those of Ebola virus disease, and Egyptian fruit bats are believed to be its natural carrier in the wild.
