Orchitis is inflammation of the testicles, involving swelling, pain, and frequent infection that can also affect the epididymis. It stems from various causes, including sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, or it can occur during active mumps, especially in adolescent males. Ischemic orchitis can also result from blood vessel damage during hernia repair surgery.
