Panic Disorder

Mental and Behavioural Disorders

Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by recurring, unexpected panic attacks, sudden periods of intense fear that can include a racing heart, sweating, shaking, shortness of breath, and a sense of impending doom. These symptoms typically reach their peak within minutes of onset. People with the disorder often develop ongoing worry about having further attacks, which can lead them to avoid places or situations where a previous attack occurred.
