Interferon gamma-1b

Antineoplastic and Immunomodulating Agents

Interferon gamma-1b is a protein medicine, a recombinant form of the signalling molecule interferon gamma, given by injection. ChEMBL records its first approval in 1999, and the WHO Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Index classifies it as L03AB03, among the interferons of the immunostimulant group. The approved indication recorded for it is osteopetrosis, a rare inherited bone disorder in which bone is abnormally dense. It is not on the World Health Organization Model List of Essential Medicines, 24th list, from 2025. Actimmune is the brand name under which it is sold, and the queued entry for it was filed under that name.
