Tetrahydrocannabinol/cannabinol/cannabidiol, abbreviated THC/CBN/CBD, is sold under the brand name Zenivol and carries the developmental code name ZTL-101. It is a cannabinoid medication for the treatment of insomnia, developed and marketed by Zelira Therapeutics, and it was approved and launched in Germany in 2022. It is taken as a liquid under the tongue about an hour before bedtime, drawn up in a syringe, and each 0.5 mL dose holds 10 mg of THC, 1 mg of CBN and 0.5 mg of CBD. Clinical trials reported shorter time to fall asleep, fewer awakenings, longer total sleep and better sleep quality. Side effects are generally mild and include dry mouth, dizziness, headache and feeling abnormal. THC and CBN act as partial agonists at cannabinoid receptors, while CBD modulates the endocannabinoid system without acting as an agonist.
