Extracorporeal Organ Support

Treatments in which blood is circulated outside the body through a device that does part of an organ job, including liver support systems, hemoperfusion over adsorbent material and extracorporeal procedures in general. An entry belongs here when its own source describes support delivered by a machine outside the body. It excludes ordinary dialysis and apheresis. Each member is a renal and transfusion therapy entry that the atlas covers as a subject in its own right, placed here on what its cited article says it is and how it is used, never on its name alone.
