Molecular Biologists and Geneticists

Scientists who found the chemical basis of heredity: Avery, MacLeod and McCarty with DNA as the carrier of genes, Crick, Wilkins and Franklin with its structure, Nirenberg and Matthaei with the genetic code and Garrod with inborn errors of metabolism. A person belongs here when the cited article describes work on DNA, the genetic code or heredity. It excludes physiologists and drug discoverers. Work on the chemistry of heredity is admitted whatever the prize or country, and a person known mainly for imaging the structure, such as Franklin, is admitted because the cited article ties the imaging to DNA.
