Craig G. Rogers, born in 1971, is an American urologist and academic surgeon who chairs the Department of Urology at the Vattikuti Urology Institute of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine, completed his urology residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was chief resident at the Brady Urological Institute, and trained in urologic oncology as a fellow at the National Cancer Institute, crediting formative mentorship from Patrick C. Walsh. He joined Henry Ford Health System in 2007. His clinical and academic work centers on minimally invasive and robotic surgery for kidney and prostate disease using the da Vinci Surgical System, including early use of robotically controlled intraoperative ultrasound to locate tumors. He is a past president of the Society of Urologic Robotic Surgeons, and in 2009 a live robotic kidney operation in which he took part, with real-time messages posted to Twitter, drew wide media attention as an early example of social media in the operating room.
