Kurt Friedrich Plötner (1905 to 1984) was a member of the Nazi Party and a medical doctor who conducted human experimentation on Jewish prisoners and on Soviet prisoners of war in German concentration camps. American intelligence recruited him to work for the United States in 1945, and after working for the Americans and living for a time under an alias he returned to medicine as a professor at the University of Freiburg in West Germany. His career is recorded because it shows how some physicians who committed crimes under National Socialism were not held to account and resumed academic positions after the war. This entry rests on the lead of a single source and does not describe the experiments in further detail.
