John Malcolm, born in 1814 and died on 16 June 1895, was an English surgeon, hydrotherapist and activist. He was an advocate for hydrotherapy, the use of water in the treatment of illness, and for vegetarianism, and he served as a vice president of the Vegetarian Society. The Medicine Atlas records him as a nineteenth century practitioner whose public identity combined surgery with campaigning for water treatment and a vegetarian diet. Further detail on his career is left to later research. This entry records what he advocated and is not medical advice.
