Auriculotherapy, also known as auricular therapy, ear acupuncture, or auriculoacupuncture, is a form of alternative medicine built on the idea that the ear is a microsystem which reflects the entire body, mapped onto the auricle, the visible outer part of the ear. Conditions affecting a person's physical, mental, or emotional health are assumed to be treatable by stimulating specific points on the surface of the ear alone. Similar body mapping ideas underlie other alternative practices such as reflexology and iridology, and none of these mappings are supported by medical or scientific evidence.
