World Health Day is a global health awareness day held every year on 7 April under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization. It marks the anniversary of the WHO's own founding: the First World Health Assembly, held in 1948, decided to mark 7 April of each year, with effect from 1950, as World Health Day. The WHO organizes international, regional and local events on the day around a chosen theme, and it is one of eleven official global health campaigns the WHO marks each year.
