Addenbrooke's Hospital

Addenbrooke's Hospital is a large teaching hospital and research centre in Cambridge, England, with strong affiliations to the University of Cambridge, situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and operated by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It serves as the East of England's major trauma centre, the first such centre to become operational in the United Kingdom, and provides comprehensive clinical services across roughly eight hundred and eighty beds and thirty seven operating theatres, specializing in transplantation, neurosurgery, and complex trauma care, while cardiothoracic surgery and maternity care are handled by neighbouring hospitals on the same campus. The hospital traces its origin to a bequest from Dr John Addenbrooke, a fellow of St Catharine's College, Cambridge, and it moved from its original Trumpington Street site to its current campus in 1962.
