Bellevue Hospital

Bellevue Hospital, officially NYC Health plus Hospitals slash Bellevue, is the oldest public hospital in the United States, founded in 1736 and situated in Manhattan's Kips Bay neighbourhood. It is affiliated with the New York University School of Medicine and is part of the NYU Langone Health System as well as the New York City public hospital network, operating as a safety net hospital that provides care regardless of a patient's insurance status or ability to pay. With close to nine hundred beds, among the most of any hospital in the country, and designation as a Level I adult trauma centre and Level II pediatric trauma centre, it handles more than half a million patient visits a year, including some four hundred and sixty thousand outpatient clinic visits and roughly one hundred and six thousand emergency visits.
