The Wellcome Trust is a British charitable foundation that funds biomedical and health research, established in 1936 to administer the fortune of the American-born pharmaceutical magnate Sir Henry Wellcome, co-founder of Burroughs Wellcome and Company. Wellcome's will directed that the trust use the income from his pharmaceutical business to fund research improving human and animal health, and it has grown into one of the largest sources of non-governmental funding for medical research in the world. This atlas records what the historical record supports and is not medical advice.
