Bladder cancer is the abnormal growth of cells within the bladder, which can form a tumor that eventually spreads and damages the bladder and, potentially, other organs. Most people are diagnosed after noticing blood in their urine, which prompts examination of the bladder with a thin camera in a procedure called cystoscopy. Suspected tumors are typically confirmed and further characterized through tissue sampling and imaging.
