Obstetricians and Gynecologic Surgeons

Physicians who delivered babies and operated on the pelvis: Simpson with chloroform in childbirth, Tait in pelvic surgery, Shirodkar with the cervical stitch and Steptoe with the first in vitro fertilisation. A person belongs here when the cited article describes an obstetrician or gynecologist. It excludes physicians of children. Reproductive science that began in the gynecology clinic, such as the first test tube baby work, is admitted here when the cited article names the physician as an obstetrician or gynecologist, and no other group takes the person. A nurse or an embryologist who worked on the same method sits in the nursing group.
