Positive psychotherapy (PPT) is a psychotherapeutic method developed by the psychiatrist and psychotherapist Nossrat Peseschkian and his co-workers in Germany beginning in 1968. It is a form of humanistic psychodynamic psychotherapy based on a positive conception of human nature, integrating humanistic, systemic, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral elements, and as of 2024 has centers and training available in 22 countries. It was initially known as differentiational analysis before being renamed when Peseschkian published his work in 1977, and it should not be confused with the separate field of positive psychology.
