Compeed

Pharmacological Therapy

Compeed is a brand of hydrocolloid gel plaster used to treat blisters, corns, cracked heels, and cold sores. It was developed by Danish inventor Lars Backsell while working at the medical device company Coloplast, originally for use in ostomy care before being adapted into a consumer blister treatment; the product launched in Sweden in 1986 and received United States approval two years later. Ownership of the brand passed from Coloplast to Johnson and Johnson in 2002 and then to HRA Pharma in 2017, though Coloplast has continued to manufacture the plasters.
