Lifestyle Drug

Pharmacological Therapy

Lifestyle drug is an imprecise term commonly applied to medications that treat conditions that are not life threatening or painful, such as baldness, wrinkles, erectile dysfunction, or acne, which the person using the term regards as either not medical problems at all or as minor compared with other conditions. It is sometimes used as a criticism, implying that scarce research resources were spent on such drugs when they could have gone toward more serious disease, while proponents argue that improving a patient subjective quality of life has always been a legitimate concern of medicine. The term appears in both popular media and scholarly journals.
