Dental and Oral Preventive Care

Preventive measures aimed specifically at dental and oral health rather than the body generally. This includes the dental sealant applied to tooth surfaces to prevent decay, fluoride therapy and community water fluoridation as the two main routes of preventive fluoride exposure, and scaling and root planing, the routine deep-cleaning procedure used to prevent and manage gum disease. A general medical screening or preventive measure that happens to be delivered in a dental setting but is not itself dental or oral in its target is grouped elsewhere.
