Hepatitis B immune globulin, also called hepatitis B immunoglobulin or HBIG, is a human immunoglobulin preparation used to prevent the development of hepatitis B infection. It is administered for the treatment of acute exposure to the hepatitis B surface antigen, providing passive immunity before or shortly after exposure.
