Immunoglobulin and Passive Immunity Products

Products and concepts built on supplying ready-made antibodies directly, giving immediate but temporary protection rather than training the immune system to respond on its own the way a vaccine does. This includes passive immunity and passive immunization as the general concept, immunoglobulin therapy broadly, and the named antibody and antitoxin products used against a specific threat (anthrax immune globulin, hepatitis B immune globulin, heptavalent botulism antitoxin, hyperimmune globulin, scarlet fever serum, VZV immune globulin). A product that stimulates the body's own immune system to produce a lasting response is grouped instead under vaccines even when it is given for the same disease.
