Multisystemic therapy (MST) is an intense, family-focused and community-based treatment program for juveniles with serious criminal offenses who may also be abusing substances, and it also teaches their families how to foster their success in recovery. Its goal is to lower rates of criminal behavior among juvenile offenders. MST integrates empirically based treatment addressing the range of risk factors that may influence the behavior, rewards positive changes to empower caregivers, and applies quality assurance mechanisms focused on completing the objectives set in treatment.
