Dignity therapy is a palliative-care intervention developed by the Canadian psychiatrist Harvey Chochinov, a leading authority on the emotional dimensions of the end of life who focused his research on best practices in psycho-oncology and on enhancing the psychological wellbeing and quality of life of patients with advanced disease. It is currently used by palliative care practitioners worldwide for its benefits to patients at the end of life, their relatives, and health professionals, and involves creating a narrative document with a dying patient that gives them the chance to reflect on their life experiences.
