Zygote intrafallopian transfer, or ZIFT, is an infertility treatment used when a blockage in the fallopian tubes prevents sperm from reaching an egg naturally. Eggs are removed from the ovaries and fertilized outside the body, and the resulting zygote is placed into the fallopian tube using laparoscopy, a variation on the earlier gamete intrafallopian transfer procedure.
